Immortal DiabloDiablo, the upcoming mobile-focused title, is set to launch for Android and iOS later this week on June 2. It will also be released in Open Beta on PC as well. Reports have been circulating that the video game will not be released in the Netherlands or Belgium Because of loot box legislation. According to the post Immortal Diablo Group interview attended by ComicBook.com, and it was confirmed Immortal Diablo It won’t be available in either country due to its “operating environment” – which seems like a roundabout way of saying it’s due to the above legislation.
“Immortal Diablo It will not be available in Belgium and the Netherlands,” Beuyen Yao stated, Immortal Diablo Executive producer, during the interview, “because this is related to the gaming environment in those countries.”
In general, Belgium and the Netherlands consider loot boxes to be a form of illegal gambling and therefore against the law when included in video games. Belgium, more specifically, took a rather strong stance in 2018 with Belgian Justice Minister Koen Geese stating at the time that anyone caught violating the law “will face a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of up to 800,000 euros.”
Since then, some companies have either reformulated loot boxes or removed them entirely in order to comply with loot box legislation. Notably, EA has made changes to its FIFA franchise and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive A change was made to make loot boxes impossible to open in both the Netherlands and Belgium. While Immortal Diablo In theory, changes could be made specifically for those countries in order to be as widely available as possible, it currently appears that they simply won’t be released or operational in any foreseeable future.
